Want to know a great alternative to MySpace? Check out www.MyVillageLink.org – a place where people can come together over the internet and raise funds to support people in underdeveloped villages in Afghanistan, Nepal, and India. Joining MyVillageLink entails starting or joining an online team that works to help a village of their choice. Each team -made up of friends, family, and anyone interested - sets a goal to raise a certain amount of money to support projects by Equal Access. These projects create programs to empower million of people with tools in information, leadership, and education. For instance, $30 is enough to give leadership training to villagers, $60 can broadcast a 30-minute educational radio show, $120 buys a satellite radio for a village, and $250 gives outreach to a village for a whole year. The programs address such issues as women’s empowerment, human rights and democracy, teacher training, early childhood development, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, sanitation and the environment, and sustainable livelihood. Joining a team on MyVillageLink is truly a fun, informative, and productive way to better the world! - Naiema
